A TOWN STRUNG ALONG A COAST

Getting Around

Marbella is long and thin, and that decides how you move around it.

On foot

⭐ The center is walkable end to end: the old town, the Alameda, the Avenida del Mar and the seafront are all within a few minutes of each other.

The Paseo Marítimo goes much further — west along the coast toward Puerto Banús — and it is the most pleasant way to cover the Golden Mile.

Buses and taxis

Local buses run along the coast, linking the center with the Golden Mile, Puerto Banús and San Pedro Alcántara, and inland to the bus station. Taxis are plentiful and wait at ranks in the center and at Puerto Banús.

⭐ The common pattern is to walk one way along the promenade and take a bus or taxi back.

By car

⚠️ You cannot drive into the old town, and parking in the center means an underground car park. A car earns its keep for the eastern beaches and the dunes at Artola, for the mountain villages, and for day trips — much less for the town itself.
